THE HUGGING PROJECT
(speculative design)
CHOREOGRAPHER SCARLETT PERDEREAU DESIGNER ANGELICA RUSH VENUE SADLER'S WELLS
In casual attire, gold shot silk aims to echo the mosaic surfaces of Byzantine art - embracing the dancers' bodies.
Perdereau's choreography works on a vertical plane.
The cycle of segments, with movement that is slow and repetitive, provides us with chapters of human devotion.
I wanted the design to create a connection with the up and down rituals in the choreography revealing the potential of ascension.
